Thesis Topic

Multiagent based Voltage Control in Distribution Grids

The Person

Gregor Rohbogner received the Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. degree from the RWTH Aachen University in Juli 2011. Since 2010 he has been a researcher within the Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg (Germany). First he focused on topics of in-house and Smart Grid communication for his diploma thesis. Since mid of 2011 he has been working as research fellow on multi-agent systems and artificial intelligence for Smart Grid applications. Further interest include Peer-to-Peer networks, optimization of decentralized energy resources, Cloud technologies, and Internet-of-Things technologies.

GSim - Multiagent based Simulation for distributed energy systems

GSim is a java-based multi-agent simulation framework to plan distributed, local energy supply systems for e.g. accomodations and to validate different Smart Grid control strategies. Simulations result in static and dynamic reports covering detailed economic and technical indicators.

Gregor Rohbogner and his team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solare Energy Systems ISE have been developing GSim since beginning of 2014. The GSim development team integrates the economic and technical know-how for distributed and renewable energy systems of the Smart Grid department of Fraunhofer ISE in a user-friendly end-customer software solution. The picture below depicts the today's system architecture of GSim.

GSim gets available for everybody

GSim is going to be developed to a commercial software by means of the German Funding Programm EXIST of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. For further details see EXIST GSim University Freiburg
